Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6242

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication for me: 'Allahumma saddid ramyatahu, wa ajib da'watahu' (O Allah, make his shot true and answer his supplication).
Yahya bin Hani' al-Shajari is alone in narrating this hadith, and he is a trustworthy Shaykh from the people of Madinah.

Explanation & Benefits

Technical note / Defect ('illah): This portion has dropped out of our manuscripts; we have completed it with the help of the other takhrij sources and the author's reference to it after the hadith.

Grading: This chain is weak because of the weakness of Ibrahim bin Yahya and his father.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym narrated it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (528) via al-Tabarani, from al-Abbas bin al-Fadl.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym also narrated it in "Hilyat al-Awliya'" (1/ 92-93) and "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (512), and al-Baghawi in "Sharh al-Sunnah" (3922), via two other routes from Ibrahim bin Yahya.
Note / Clarification: These words have already passed at number (4360), within a lengthy hadith narrated via A'ishah bint Sa'd from her father Sa'd.
Grading: Its chain is very weak.
Note / Clarification: See also the earlier number (6238) on this.

Identification of names: The addition "bin Khalid" in manuscript (B) is wrong; he is Yahya bin Muhammad bin Abbad bin Hani', attributed here to his great-grandfather.
Grading: The author's and Ibn Hibban's declaring him thiqah is their known tasahul (leniency), whereas al-Uqayli described him as having munkar narrations and Abu Hatim al-Razi called him "weak in hadith".
