Aishah bint Sa'd narrates from her father Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said (in verse): "Shall I not inform the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that I protected my companions with my arrows? With them I kept driving the enemy away over every rugged and every level ground. No archer of the tribe of Ma'add can claim to have shot an arrow in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) before me."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Only in manuscript (Z) is this name written with a nun (Najjad); in the other manuscripts it is undotted. Al-Dhahabi recorded it with a ba' (Bijad), while al-Khatib al-Baghdadi quoted one of his descendants as saying: "The experts in genealogy say 'Najjad' (with a nun), while the hadith scholars say 'Bijad' (with a ba')."
(2504). Grading: This chain is weak because Muhammad bin Najjad is majhul al-hal. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: However, al-Waqidi is corroborated by Ma'n bin Isa, in a narration that has already passed with the author at number (2504).
