حَدَّثَنَا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني الليث بن سعد، عن يحيى بن سعيد، عن السائب بن يزيد قال: صَحِبتُ سعدَ بنَ أبي وقّاص كذا وكذا سنةً، غير أنه قد أَكثر، فلم أسمعه يحدِّثُ عن رسول الله ﷺ إلا حديثًا واحدًا (2).

It is narrated from al-Sa'ib bin Yazid that he said: I remained in the company of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) for a long time. Although he had a great store of knowledge, I did not hear him narrate (frequently) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) any hadith other than one.

(2) إسناده صحيح. يحيى بن سعيد: هو الأنصاري.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Identification of names: Yahya bin Sa'id is Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari.
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (29) من طريق حماد بن زيد، عن يحيى بن سعيد، به. لكن بلفظ: فما سمعته يحدِّث عن النَّبِيّ ﷺ بحديث واحد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (29) narrated it via Hammad bin Zayd, from Yahya bin Sa'id, but with the wording: "I never heard him narrate a single hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
