It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that the mother of Sayyiduna Sa'd and of his two brothers Umayr and Amir (may Allah be pleased with them) was Hamnah bint Sufyan bin Umayyah. Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred at the Battle of Badr, while Sayyiduna Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the Muhajirun who emigrated to Abyssinia. And Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) used to use black dye.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
78 - 79. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have "bint Abi Sufyan", in which the addition of the word 'Abi' is a mistake; it has been corrected from Mus'ab al-Zubayri's "Nasab Quraysh" and Ibn Hazm's "Jamharat Ansab al-'Arab" (pp. 78-79).
Reference / Source: See Mus'ab al-Zubayri's "Nasab Quraysh" (p. 263). Note / Clarification: The story of Sa'd using black dye is not in it, while this story has already passed through another route at number (6219).
