Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 620

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is an image, a dog, or a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub, one for whom a ritual bath is obligatory)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic), because Abdullah bin Nujayy is among the trustworthy narrators of Kufah; however, the two Shaykhs did not record the mention of the junub in it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Apart from the mention of the junub (person in a state of major ritual impurity), this narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic due to supporting reports).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is weak, because no one narrated from Nujayy al-Hadrami al-Kufi except his son Abd Allah; Ibn Hibban listed him in "al-Thiqat" and said he did not like to take his report as proof when he narrates alone. His son Abd Allah is also disputed.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (2/ 632 and 815), Abu Dawud (227, 4152), Ibn Majah (3650), al-Nasa'i (253, 4774) and Ibn Hibban (1205) recorded it via several routes from Shu'bah, with this chain.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Apart from the words "nor a junub", this narration is supported by the hadiths of Abu Talhah (al-Bukhari 3225, Muslim 2106), A'ishah (Muslim 2104) and Maymunah (Muslim 2105).
