It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that he said: The kunyah of Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abu Abdullah, and according to one view it was Abu Muhammad. His mother and the mother of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was Sayyidah Umm Ruman bint Amir bin Uwaymir. Sayyidah Umm Ruman (may Allah be pleased with her) embraced Islam and her Islam proved to be excellent. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said about her: "Whoever would like to look at a woman from the Hur al-Ayn (the maidens of Paradise), let him look at Umm Ruman." Sayyidah Umm Ruman (may Allah be pleased with her) died in Dhu al-Hijjah of 6 AH.

(7103). Grading: This narration is "da'if" (weak), because its chain is "mu'dal" (two or more narrators dropped). Technical note / Defect ('illah): This narration has been reported both connected and mursal, but it is weak nonetheless. Moreover, there is a difference of opinion about the death of Umm Ruman (may Allah be pleased with her); the preponderant view is that she died after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as we have detailed in our notes on "Sahih Ibn Hibban" (7103). 27/ 35. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Asakir mentioned it from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri without its marfu' part. Reference / Source: Ibn Asakir (35/28) narrated it with a chain to Khalifah bin Khayyat, without the marfu' part. Grading: This narration is mursal in its chain, and it is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its marfu' part was narrated by Ibn Sa'd in "al-Tabaqat" (10/262) from Yazid bin Harun and Affan bin Muslim, and by Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (7928) via Abu Salamah al-Tabudhaki. All three narrate it from Hammad bin Salamah, from Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an, from al-Qasim bin Muhammad (a Tabi'i), as mursal. Besides being mursal, Ali bin Zayd is alone in narrating it, and he is a weak narrator whose solitary narrations are not accepted. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Abi Adi contradicted them by narrating it with a connected chain (as Abu al-Fadl al-Zuhri transmitted in his "Hadith" (262) via Sufyan bin Waki'), in which it is made marfu' through al-Qasim from Aishah. Grading: This chain is also weak, because Sufyan bin Waki' is himself a weak narrator.
