حَدَّثَنَا أبو زكريا يحيى بن محمد العَنبَريُّ، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن إبراهيم العَبْديُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسدَّد، حَدَّثَنَا ابن عُليَّة، عن سعيد، عن قَتَادة، عن مُطَرِّفٍ قال: خرجنا مع عِمرانَ بن الحُصين من البصرة إلى الكوفة، فما أتَى عليه يومٌ إلَّا يُناشِدُ فيه الشِّعر (2). It is narrated from Mutarrif that he said: We set out with Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) from Basrah towards Kufah, and not a day passed over him in which he did not recite poetry abundantly (in the course of his conversation).

(2) إسناده صحيح. ابن علية: هو إسماعيل بن إبراهيم، وسعيد: هو ابن أبي عروبة، ومطرف: هو ابن عبد الله بن الشِّخير. Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Important point: Ibn 'Ulayyah refers to Isma'il bin Ibrahim, Sa'id refers to Ibn Abi 'Arubah, and Mutarrif refers to Mutarrif bin Abd Allah bin al-Shikhkhir. وأخرجه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (4458) من طريق روح بن عبادة، عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة، بهذا الإسناد. Reference / Source: Imam al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (4458) through the route of Rawh bin 'Ubadah from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah with this same chain. وأخرجه البخاري في "الأدب المفرد" (857)، والبيهقي في "الشعب" (4458) من طريق شعبة، عن قتادة، به. Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari narrated it in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (857), and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman", through the route of Imam Shu'bah from Qatadah. وأخرجه معمر بن راشد في "جامعه" (19740)، ومن طريقه البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 10/ 240 عن مطر الوراق، عن مطرف بن عبد الله. Reference / Source: Ma'mar bin Rashid narrated it in his "Jami'" (19740), and through him Imam al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (10/ 240), through the route of Matar al-Warraq from Mutarrif bin Abd Allah.
