Makhshi bin Hujr bin Adi narrates from his father that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the people (on the occasion of the Farewell Hajj) and asked: "What day is this?" The people said: It is a sacred day. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What city is this?" They said: It is a sacred city. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What month is this?" They said: It is a sacred month. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth and your honour are sacred to you just as this day of yours, this month of yours and this city of yours are sacred. So let the one who is present convey (this message) to the one who is absent. And do not become disbelievers after me, striking one another's necks."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In the manuscripts it has been distorted here into "'Abbad", whereas the correct name is "'Ubadah bin 'Umar bin Abi Thabit al-Saluli", as is clear from the biographical sources.
2/ 483. Technical note / Defect ('illah): With the author (al-Hakim) the name here appears as "Makhshi bin Hujr bin 'Adi", which is an "error" (wahm); for Makhshi is not the son of Hujr bin 'Adi but "Ibn Hujayr" (in the diminutive form). According to al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar and Ibn Abd al-Barr, this is Hujayr al-Hilali, and Makhshi is his son. Important point: As for Hujr bin 'Adi, his coming to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as part of a delegation (wifadah) is established, but no narration is reported from him, as Imam al-Dhahabi stated explicitly in "Tarikh al-Islam".
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", but this chain has some weakness (lin) because Makhshi bin Hujayr is majhul (unknown). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Makhshi is known only through this hadith and we have not found a biography of him, while 'Ubadah bin 'Umar is also majhul al-hal (of unknown status), but he is corroborated here. Important point: Abu 'Ali refers to al-Hafiz al-Husayn bin 'Ali al-Naysaburi. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim narrated it in "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (1682) via Muhammad bin Miskin with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Harith bin Abi Usamah narrated it in his "Musnad", and through his route Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (2307), through the route of Abd Allah bin al-Rumi from 'Ubadah bin 'Umar. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (3572) and Ibn Mandah in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" through the route of al-Nadr bin Muhammad al-Jurashi. (3315). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its shahid (supporting report) is the hadith of Abd Allah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), found in al-Bukhari (4403) and Muslim (66), which has already passed with the author at number (3315). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This shahid is also reported from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), found in al-Bukhari (1739) and earlier at number (1760 M). (1679). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Likewise, the narrations reported from Jarir bin Abd Allah al-Bajali and Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with them) are found in al-Bukhari and Muslim at the places mentioned.
