Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6073

فحدَّثَنيهِ أبو عبد الله محمد بن العبّاس بن أحمد بن محمد بن عُصْم الشهيد ﵁، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن محمد بن علي بن رَزِين، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن عَمْرَوَيهِ الهَرَوي، حَدَّثَنَا الهيثم بن عَدِيّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُجالِد بن سعيد، عن الشَّعْبي، عن مَسْروقٍ قال: انتهى عِلمُ أصحاب النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إلى هؤلاء النَّفَر: عمرَ بن الخطاب، وعليِّ بن أبي طالب، وعبدِ الله بن مسعود، وأُبيِّ بن كعب، ومعاذِ بن جبل، وزيدِ بن ثابت، وأَبي الدَّرداء، وأبي موسى الأشعري (1). قال مسروق: القُضاةُ أربعةٌ: عمرُ، وعليٌّ، وزيدُ بن ثابت، وأبو موسى الأشعريُّ، ﵃.

It is narrated from Masruq that he said: The knowledge of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) culminated in these few people: Umar bin al-Khattab, Ali bin Abi Talib, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Ubayy bin Ka'b, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Zayd bin Thabit, Abu al-Darda' and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with them). Masruq said: The judges are four: Umar, Ali, Zayd bin Thabit and Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with them).

(1) أثر صحيح، وهذا إسناد ضعيف جدًّا من أجل الهيثم بن عدي، إلا أنه متابع، ومجالد فيه ضعف، وهو متابع أيضًا كما سلف بيانه برقم (5399) محمد بن عمرويه: هو محمد بن عمرو بن الحكم، والشعبي: هو عامر بن شراحيل، ومسروق: هو ابن الأجدع.
Grading: This is a "sahih athar", but this particular chain is "very weak" on account of al-Haytham bin 'Adi; however, he is corroborated.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Mujalid bin Sa'id also has weakness, but he too is corroborated, as has passed at number (5399).
Important point: Muhammad bin 'Amruwayh refers to Muhammad bin 'Amr bin al-Hakam, al-Sha'bi refers to 'Amir bin Sharahil, and Masruq refers to Ibn al-Ajda'.
وأخرجه ابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 58/ 424 من طريق أحمد بن بشير، عن مجالد. لم يذكر فيه أبا الدرداء وأبا موسى.
Reference / Source: Ibn 'Asakir narrated it through the route of Ahmad bin Bashir from Mujalid, but Abu al-Darda' and Abu Musa are not mentioned in it.
