(2). It is narrated from Habib bin Abi Thabit that Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in Basrah. He vacated his house for him and said: "I will treat you just as you treated the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then he asked: "How much debt do you owe?" He said: "Twenty thousand." So he gave him forty thousand and twenty slaves, and said: "Everything in the house is yours."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is apparently no harm in its narrators, but the chain between Habib bin Abi Thabit and Abu Ayyub is "mu'dal" (two narrators missing in the middle); however, further on, under hadith number (6054), the intermediary between them is mentioned with a weak chain. Ibn Sinan is Sa'id bin Sinan al-Burjumi. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (1881) and Ibn 'Asakir in (16/ 54, 55), by way of Ishaq bin Sulayman, with this chain. Note / Clarification: See the discussion preceding it.
