Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Important point: Regarding the part of the narration "for most waswasah (in purification) comes from it", the preponderant view is that it is the own statement (mawquf) of 'Abd Allah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him), as explained in the notes on Musnad Ahmad 34/(20563) with reference to the narration of Ibn al-Mubarak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): "'Abdan" mentioned in the chain refers to 'Abd Allah bin 'Uthman al-Marwazi, and "Ash'ath" refers to Ibn 'Abd Allah bin Jabir al-Huddani. (304). Reference / Source: This hadith is in Musnad Ahmad 34/(20569) through 'Abd al-Razzaq, and via his route Abu Dawud (27) and Ibn Majah (304) narrated it. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (20563), al-Tirmidhi (21), al-Nasa'i (33) and Ibn Hibban (1255) narrated it via various routes from 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak. Note / Clarification: This narration will come again later via the route of Ibn al-Mubarak at no. (675), and a narration with the same meaning comes at no. (676) via the chain of 'Uqbah bin Suhban from 'Abd Allah bin Mughaffal.
