Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6034

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) (who had lived in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) that his mother brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over his head and supplicated for him (for blessing). He used to sacrifice a single goat on behalf of his entire household (following the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)).

Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (29/ 18046), al-Bukhari (no. 7210) from 'Ali bin al-Madini, and Abu Dawud (no. 2942) from 'Ubayd Allah bin 'Umar bin Maysarah. All three of them (Ahmad, Ibn al-Madini and 'Ubayd Allah) narrate it from 'Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri' with this chain.
Note: However, 'Ubayd Allah did not mention in his narration the sacrifice of a single sheep.
Note: This narration will come later (hadith number 7746) by way of "al-Sari bin Khuzaymah, from 'Abd Allah bin Yazid".
Research: In all the previous narrations the name of 'Abd Allah bin Hisham's mother is given as "Zaynab bint Humayd".
