Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6033

It is narrated from Khalifah bin Khayyat that the mother of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hisham bin Zuhrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (who was from Banu Asad bin Khuzaymah, and whose name was Amatullah bint Abd Shams) brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was still a small child. He (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over his head but did not take the pledge of allegiance from him (because of his young age).

Technical note: In our manuscripts this name was distorted into "'Adi". The correct name has been established here with the help of "Tabaqat Khalifah" and other books of biographies and genealogies.

Reference / Source: It is found in "Tabaqat Khalifah bin Khayyat" (p. 18).
Genealogical research: In Sahih al-Bukhari (no. 7210) his mother's name is given as "Zaynab bint Humayd", and this is more correct; she was a Qurashi woman of Banu Asad.
