Sayyidah Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a wooden vessel which was kept under his (peace and blessings be upon him) bed, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would urinate in it at night.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain and is a rare sunnah. Umaymah bint Ruqayqah is a well-known female Companion whose hadith is found in the books of the Imams, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: Because of Hukaymah bint Umaymah, its chain can possibly be graded hasan. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Jurayj is alone in narrating from Hukaymah; Ibn Hibban mentioned her in "al-Thiqat", while Imam al-Dhahabi and al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared her "majhul". Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (24), al-Nasa'i (31) and Ibn Hibban (1426) narrated it via the chain of Hajjaj bin Muhammad. Important point: In Imam al-Nasa'i's narration, Ibn Jurayj explicitly stated that he heard it directly. (7087). Note / Clarification: For further detail, see the coming hadith no. (7087). Note / Clarification: The word "'aydan" (with fatha on the 'ayn and sukun on the ya') is the plural of "'aydanah", meaning a tall palm tree whose branches have fallen away. Here it refers to a wooden vessel that has been hollowed out so that water and the like can be kept in it.
