Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 601

حَدَّثَنَا علي بن حَمْشاذ العَدْل، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن غالب، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله بن خَيْران، حَدَّثَنَا شُعبة. قال: وحدثنا محمد بن غالب، حَدَّثَنَا عيَّاش بن الوليد الرَّقَام، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الأعلى بن عبد الأعلى، حَدَّثَنَا شعبة، عن قَتَادة، عن الحسن، عن حُضَين بن المنذر، عن المهاجِر بن قُنفُذ: أنه أَتى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وهو يبولُ فسلَّمَ عليه، فلم يردَّ عليه حتَّى توضأَ، ثم اعتَذَر إليه وقال: "إني كرهتُ أن أذكُرَ الله إلّا على طُهْر" أو قال: "على طَهارة" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه بهذا اللفظ، إنما خرَّج مسلم (3) حديث الضحاك بن عثمان عن نافع عن ابن عمر: أَنَّ رجلًا مَرَّ على النَّبِيّ ﷺ وهو يبولُ، فسلَّم عليه فلم يردَّ عليه.

Muhajir bin Qunfudh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was urinating. He greeted him with salam, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not reply until he (peace and blessings be upon him) had performed ablution. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) apologised and said: "I disliked mentioning Allah without being in a state of purity."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with this wording.
