(3). Sa'd bin Ishaq narrates from his father, from his grandfather Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that when the repentance of Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and his companions was accepted, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to pray two rak'ahs (or two prostrations).

Grading: Its chain is weak because of the unknown (majhul) narrator between 'Abdan bin Muhammad and Sa'd bin Ishaq. Important point: What is mahfuz (preserved) on this is that when Ka'b bin Malik was given the good news of Allah's acceptance of his repentance, he fell down in prostration, as al-Bukhari (4418) and Muslim (2769) recorded from his own hadith. This was a prostration of gratitude that Ka'b bin Malik performed on his own out of joy at the repentance, not that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to pray two rak'ahs, as in this strange (gharib) narration, which we have not found with anyone other than al-Hakim.
