It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) (he was present at the Pledge of Aqabah) that he said: We set out from Madinah with the pilgrims, and Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Ma'rur (may Allah be pleased with him) said to us: "O people! I have formed an opinion, and by Allah, I do not know whether you will agree with me on it or not." We asked: What is it? He said: "I have decided that I will not leave this House (the Ka'bah) behind my back (that is, I will face the Ka'bah in prayer)."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq. Reference / Source: Ahmad (25/ 15798) recorded it by way of Ibrahim bin Sa'd, and Ibn Hibban (7011) by way of Salamah bin al-Fadl, both from Muhammad bin Ishaq, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, Salamah bin al-Fadl mentioned that the one who told Ma'bad was his brother 'Abdullah (in the non-diminutive form), not 'Ubaydullah (in the diminutive form). They are brothers, and the students of Ibn Ishaq differed over which of them it was. Something like this does not harm the authenticity of the report, because both are thiqah. Note / Clarification: His words "this structure" (hadhihi al-baniyyah) mean the Ka'bah.
(5615). Note / Clarification: Al-Hakim did not record it in full earlier in this book; he recorded only two portions of it, concerning the identification of some of the leaders (nuqaba') at the Pledge of al-'Aqabah: Sa'd bin 'Ubadah at number (5179) and 'Ubadah bin al-Samit at number (5615).
