Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5925

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) enter the Ka'bah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) together with Usamah bin Zayd, Bilal and Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with them), and no one else went in besides them. Then Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that he had asked Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him): Where did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pray inside the Ka'bah? He told him that he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed between the two Yemeni pillars.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Yunus is Ibn Yazid al-Ayli, and Salim is Ibn Abd Allah bin Umar bin al-Khattab.
Reference / Source: Muslim (1329) narrated it from Harmalah bin Yahya, from Abd Allah bin Wahb, with this chain.
Details of the narration: However, he said in the hadith: "Bilal or Uthman bin Talhah informed me" (with doubt), not that Bilal asked Uthman bin Talhah (as occurs in the author's narration)! Al-Qadi Iyad said in "Ikmal al-Mu'lim" (4/424): In some copies it is "Bilal and Uthman bin Talhah" (i.e. joined with "and"); and he said: The well-known version is that Bilal alone narrated the hadith.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (10/6019), al-Bukhari (1598), Muslim (1329) and al-Nasa'i (773) narrated it through the route of al-Layth bin Sa'd, from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, with this chain.
Details of the narration: However, he said in his narration: "I met Bilal and asked him…", thus without doubt about who narrated to Ibn Umar, and it does not contain that Bilal asked Uthman bin Talhah (as occurs in the author's narration).
Reference / Source: Something similar was narrated by Ahmad (8/4464, 4891, 9/5176 and 10/5927), al-Bukhari (468), Muslim (1329), Abu Dawud (2023), Ibn Majah (3063), al-Nasa'i (827) and Ibn Hibban (3202) through the route of Nafi'; Ahmad (39/23907), al-Bukhari (1167) and al-Nasa'i (3877) through the route of Mujahid; Ahmad (39/23885) and al-Nasa'i (3876) through the route of Abd Allah bin Abi Mulaykah; Ahmad (39/23906) and al-Tirmidhi (874) through the route of Amr bin Dinar; and Ahmad (39/23909) through the route of Sa'id bin Amr bin Sa'id bin al-As. All of them narrate it from Ibn Umar.
