Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5924

It is narrated concerning the lineage of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Talhah bin Abi Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother was Sulafah bint Sa'd. He embraced Islam before the Conquest of Makkah, at the time when Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As and Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with them) accepted faith. He came to Madinah in Safar of the year 8 AH, and passed away in Makkah in the year 42 AH, in the time of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts the name of the mother of Uthman bin Talhah appears as "Umm Salamah bint Sa'id", i.e. with the kunyah particle added, with a mim in "Salamah", and with a ya added in her father's name. This contains an error and a corruption, which we have corrected from Mus'ab al-Zubayri's "Nasab Quraysh" (p. 252), in agreement with all the other sources of genealogy, biography and history. See "Maghazi al-Waqidi" (1/202, 228 and 356), "Sirat Ibn Hisham" (1/525 and 2/62), and "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (2/52 and 3/428).
