Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 582

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding a cat licking from a vessel that he said: "It should be washed once or twice."
In the ruling of the Shari'ah, recourse to the hadith of Imam Malik bin Anas regarding the purity of the cat is established, and Allah knows best.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the name here is distorted into "Sahl", whereas the correct name is "Ahmad bin Muhammad bin 'Isa al-Birti", as is clear from al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (1/247).
Important point: The narration of Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Salman from his teacher Ahmad bin Muhammad al-Birti has already occurred in several places in the work of the author (al-Hakim).

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
