Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5770

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Ammar and his family while they were being tortured (in Makkah), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rejoice, O family of Ammar (or he said: O family of Yasir), for your promised meeting place is Paradise."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is hasan.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrators of this chain are trustworthy (thiqat), but Ibn Sa'd narrated this same hadith in "al-Tabaqat" (3/ 230) from Muslim bin Ibrahim, from Hisham bin Abi Abd Allah al-Dastuwa'i, from Abu al-Zubayr as "mursal". However, al-Sari bin Khuzaymah is corroborated in narrating it as "mawsul" (connected) by Ibrahim bin Abd al-Aziz al-Muqawwim, as found in al-Tabarani's "al-Awsat" (1508), and this Ibrahim is a "hasan al-hadith" narrator.
Important point: In any case, several mursal narrations with good (jiyad) chains have been narrated in support of the meaning of this hadith; some of them are these:
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: One is the narration of Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd from Uthman bin Affan, found in Ahmad's "Musnad" (1/ 439); its narrators are trustworthy, but Salim did not live in the time of Uthman (i.e. it is munqati').
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And the narration of Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri from Isma'il bin Abd Allah bin Ja'far bin Abi Talib, from his father, found in Ibn Abi al-Dunya's "al-Sabr wa al-Thawab" (46) and Abu Ahmad al-Hakim's "al-Asami wa al-Kuna" (3/ 37), and its chain is hasan. Note that Abd Allah bin Ja'far was born in Abyssinia.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Among them is also the mursal narration of Yusuf bin Mahak, found with Ibn Sa'd (3/ 230 and 4/ 127) and in Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6663), and its narrators are trustworthy.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And among them is also the mursal narration of Ibn Ishaq that has already passed at number (5746).
