It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to perform ablution from a vessel, and one of his (peace and blessings be upon him) pure wives said: O Messenger of Allah! I have already performed ablution from this (water). So he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and said: "Nothing makes water impure."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) in the chapter of purification. Imam Bukhari used Ikrimah as evidence and Imam Muslim used Simak bin Harb as evidence, and no hidden defect ('illah) is in it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Through a scribal distortion in the manuscripts the word is written "al-Qati'i" (with an added ya'), whereas the correct form is "al-Quta'i" (with damma on the qaf and fatha on the ta'); it is an ascription to Banu Qutay'ah.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan", like the previous narration. Reference / Source: Imam Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Khuzaymah narrated it in his "Sahih" (91) through Ahmad bin al-Miqdam al-'Ijli and Muhammad bin Yahya al-Quta'i, with this same chain.
