أخبرنا أحمد بن جعفر القَطِيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، حدثنا محمد بن بكر، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن مَيْسرة بن حَبيب، عن المِنْهال بن عمرو، عن زِرّ بن حُبَيش، عن حذيفة، عن النبي ﷺ قال: "أتاني جبريلُ ﵇، فقال: إنَّ الحَسنَ والحُسينَ سيِّدا شبابِ أهلِ الجنة"، ثم قال لي رسول الله ﷺ: "غَفَر اللهُ لك ولأُمِّك يا حذيفةُ" (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and told me: Indeed, al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) are the leaders of the youth of the people of Paradise." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Hudhayfah! May Allah forgive you and your mother."

(3) إسناده صحيح، إسرائيل: هو ابن يونس بن أبي إسحاق السَّبيعي.
Grading: (3) Its chain is sahih.
Note / Clarification: Isra'il refers to "Ibn Yunus bin Abi Ishaq al-Sabi'i".
وأخرجه أحمد 38/ (23329)، والنسائي (8240) من طريق الحسين بن محمد المرُّوذي المؤدِّب، والترمذي (3781) من طريق محمد بن يوسف الفريابي، والنسائي (8307)، وابن حبان (6960) من طريق زيد بن الحباب، وابن حبان (7126) من طريق عمرو بن محمد العنقزي ويحيى بن آدم، خمستهم عن إسرائيل، به. ولم يرد في رواية زيد بن الحباب الدعاء بالمغفرة، ولم يرد في رواية عمرو بن محمد ويحيى بن آدم ذكر الحسن والحسين.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 38/ (23329) and al-Nasa'i (8240) narrated it via the route of al-Husayn bin Muhammad al-Marrudhi al-Mu'addib; al-Tirmidhi (3781) via the route of Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Firyabi; al-Nasa'i (8307) and Ibn Hibban (6960) via the route of Zayd bin al-Hubab; and Ibn Hibban (7126) via the route of 'Amr bin Muhammad al-'Anqazi and Yahya bin Adam. All five narrate it from Isra'il, in the same way.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The supplication for forgiveness does not appear in the narration of Zayd bin al-Hubab, and al-Hasan and al-Husayn are not mentioned in the narration of 'Amr bin Muhammad and Yahya bin Adam.
وأخرجه أحمد 38/ (23330) عن أسود بن عامر، عن إسرائيل، عن ابن أبي السَّفَر، عن الشعبي، عن حذيفة. ورجاله ثقات، غير أنَّ الشعبي - وهو عامر بن شراحيل الهَمْداني - لا يُعرف له سماع من حذيفة وإن أدركه صغيرًا.
Reference / Source: Ahmad 38/ (23330) narrated it from Aswad bin 'Amir, he from Isra'il, he from Ibn Abi al-Safar, he from al-Sha'bi, and he from Hudhayfah.
Grading: Its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy),
Technical note / Defect ('illah): except that al-Sha'bi ('Amir bin Sharahil al-Hamdani) is not known to have heard from Hudhayfah, even though he lived in his time as a child.
