أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، حدثنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا سُليمان بن أيوبَ بن سليمان بن عيسى بن مُوسى بن طلحة بن عبيد الله، حدثني أبي، عن جدِّي، عن (1) موسى بن طلحة، عن أبيه طلحة (2) بن عبيد الله قال: سمّاني رسول الله ﷺ يوم أُحُد طلحةَ الخَيرِ، وفي غزوة العُشَيرة الفَيّاضَ، ويومَ حُنينٍ طلحةَ الجُودِ (1). ذكرُ (2) مناقب محمد بن طلحة بن عُبيد الله السَّجاد ﵄ كان محمدُ بن طَلْحة من الزُّهّاد المُجتهدِين في العِبادة، وكان أصحابُ رسول الله ﷺ يَتبرّكون به وبدُعائه، وهو أول مِن لُقِّب بالسَّجَّاد.

Sayyiduna Musa bin Talhah narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) named me "Talhah al-Khayr" (Talhah of goodness) on the day of the Battle of Uhud, "al-Fayyad" (the overflowing in generosity) in the Battle of al-Ushayrah, and "Talhah al-Jud" (Talhah of munificence) on the day of Hunayn.
Mention of the virtues of Muhammad bin Talhah bin Ubaydullah al-Sajjad (may Allah be pleased with him):
Muhammad bin Talhah was among the ascetics who strove to the utmost in worship. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek blessing through his person and his supplication, and he was the first person to be given the title "al-Sajjad" (the one who prostrates much) because of the abundance of his prostrations.
Mention of the virtues of Muhammad bin Talhah bin Ubaydullah al-Sajjad (may Allah be pleased with him):
Muhammad bin Talhah was among the ascetics who strove to the utmost in worship. (1) حرف "عن" سقط من نسخنا الخطية، وأثبتناه على الصواب من إسنادَي المصنف في الروايتين: الرواية السالفة برقم (4357)، والرواية الآتية برقم (5714) حيث روى المصنف بهذه السلسلة الطَّلْحية خبرين آخرين، وهي نسخة معروفة.
Note / Clarification: (1) The word "'an" has dropped out of our manuscripts; we have restored it correctly from the author's chains in two narrations (the earlier narration number 4357 and the coming narration number 5714), where the author narrated two other reports through this same "Talhi chain", and it is a well-known nuskhah.
(2) وقع في نسخنا الخطية: عن أبيه عن طلحة، بزيادة لفظة "عن" الثانية وهي زيادة مُقحمة، وهذه السلسلة الطلحية معروفة.
Note / Clarification: (2) In our manuscripts it reads "'an abihi 'an Talhah", with the second word "'an" added; this addition is an interpolation, since this Talhi chain is well known.
(1) إسناده ضعيف، وقد سلف الكلام على سلسلة الإسناد هذه قريبًا عند الحديث رقم (5691).
Grading: (1) Its chain is weak, and the discussion of this chain has passed shortly before under hadith number (5691).
وأخرجه ابن أبي عاصم في "السنة" (1403)، والطبراني في "الكبير" (197) و (218)، وأبو نعيم في "فضائل الخلفاء الراشدين" (106)، وفي "معرفة الصحابة" (372)، وابن عساكر 25/ 92، وابن الأثير في "أُسد الغابة" 2/ 468، والضياء المقدسي في "المختارة" 3/ (832) من طرق عن سليمان بن أيوب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim narrated it in "al-Sunnah" (1403), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (197) and (218), Abu Nu'aym in "Fada'il al-Khulafa' al-Rashidin" (106) and "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (372), Ibn 'Asakir 25/ 92, Ibn al-Athir in "Usd al-Ghabah" 2/ 468, and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" 3/ (832), through various routes from Sulayman bin Ayyub, with this same chain.
(2) هكذا تخلّلت مناقبَ طلحة مناقبُ ابنه محمد، وسيعود المصنف لإكمال مناقب طلحة برقم (5710).
Note / Clarification: (2) Thus the virtues of his son Muhammad have come in the midst of the virtues of Talhah, and the author will return to complete the virtues of Talhah at number (5710).
