Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In manuscripts (M) and (B) this name is misspelt (tashif) as "al-Muzani".

Note / Clarification: (2) The name "al-Zuhri" has dropped out of the chain of the hadith in all our manuscripts, whereas it is present with everyone who reported this hadith.

Grading: (3) Its chain is da'if (weak), because of the weakness of the narrator between Ibn al-Sindi and 'Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (who is Ibn Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Hazm).
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (3), and via him Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (7915), 'Abd al-Khaliq bin Asad al-Hanafi in his "Mu'jam" (303) and Ibn 'Asakir in his "Tarikh" 25/ 66, from Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami, from 'Abdullah bin Shabib al-Madani, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim narrated it in "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (23) and (119) from 'Abdullah bin Shabib, in the same way. In the first place he mentioned the Islam of Abu Bakr's mother, and in the second place the Islam of 'Uthman's mother.
Details of the narration: Also al-Tabarani (91) and (188) narrated it from Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami, and Abu Nu'aym in "al-Ma'rifah" (222) and (363) via Ahmad bin 'Amr bin Abi 'Asim. Both of them narrate it from 'Abdullah bin Shabib, in the same way; in the first place they mentioned the Islam of 'Uthman's mother, and in the second place the Islam of Talhah's mother.
Reference / Source: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned the mothers in question in "al-Isabah": at 8/ 200 the mother of Abu Bakr (Umm al-Khayr bint Sakhr al-Taymiyyah), at 7/ 481 the mother of 'Uthman (Arwa bint Kurayz al-'Abshamiyyah), at 7/ 736 the mother of Talhah (al-Sa'bah bint al-Hadrami, sister of al-'Ala'), at 7/ 712 the mother of 'Ammar bin Yasir (Sumayyah bint Khubbat), at 7/ 729 the mother of 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf (al-Shifa' bint 'Awf al-Zuhriyyah), and at 7/ 743 the mother of al-Zubayr bin al-'Awwam (Safiyyah bint 'Abd al-Muttalib, the paternal aunt of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)).
Important point: And in "Fath al-Bari" 11/ 288 he said about the mother of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (Hamnah bint Sufyan bin Umayyah, the paternal cousin of Abu Sufyan): "I have not seen in any report that she accepted Islam."
