It is narrated from Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah bin Uthman bin Amr bin Ka'b bin Sa'd bin Taym bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was in Syria (when the Battle of Badr took place). He spoke to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about his share (of the spoils), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) assigned him his share. He asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Will I have a reward as well? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And your reward is (established) from the day of Badr."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) This hadith is "hasan", and this is a chain whose narrators are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim), as explained under number (4378). Note / Clarification: Ibn Lahi'ah is "'Abdullah" and Abu al-Aswad is "Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Nawfal". Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 6/ 292 from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (189) from Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Khalid, in the same way. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi 9/ 57 narrated it via Ya'qub bin Sufyan, from 'Amr bin Khalid al-Harrani and Hassan bin 'Abdullah, from Ibn Lahi'ah, in the same way. Reference / Source: Ibn 'Asakir narrated it in his "Tarikh" 25/ 67 via al-Walid bin Muslim, from 'Abdullah bin Lahi'ah, in the same way. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has also been narrated as a "mursal" of al-Zuhri, as will come in the author's (al-Hakim's) work at number (5685), and Ibn Ishaq also narrated it (in Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi's "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" 1339 and Ibn 'Asakir 25/ 67). Grading: So by the combination of these three mursal narrations the report becomes "strong", if Allah wills. 356. Reference / Source: Al-Waqidi also mentioned it from his shaykhs, as in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" 3/ 198 and 356.
