حَدَّثَنَا أبو سعيد أحمد بن يعقوب الثقفي، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن يحيى الحُلْواني، حَدَّثَنَا عَتيق بن يعقوب الزُّبَيري، حدثني أبي (1) يعقوبُ، عن (2) الزُّبَير بن خُبَيب بن ثابت بن عبد الله بن الزُّبَير، عن هشام بن عُرْوة، عن أبيه، قال: قال عبد الله بن الزُّبَير لأبيه: يا أبتِ حَدَّثني عن رسول الله ﷺ، حتَّى أُحدَّثَ عنكَ، فَإِنَّ كلَّ أبناءِ الصحابة يُحدِّث عن أبيه، فقال: يا بُنيّ، ما من أحدٍ صَحِبَ رسولَ الله ﷺ بصُحبةٍ إِلَّا وقد صحِبتُه بمثلِها أو أفضلَ منها، ولقد علمتَ بأنَّ أمَّك أسماء ابنة أبي بكر كانت تحتي، وأنَّ خالتَك عائشةُ بنتُ أبي بكر، ولقد علمتَ أنَّ أُمّي صَفيّةُ بنتُ عبد المُطَّلب، وأنَّ أخوالي حمزةُ بن عبد المُطلبِ وأبو طالب وعبّاسٌ، وأنَّ رسولَ الله ﷺ ابن خالي، ولقد علمتَ أنَّ عَمَّتي خديجةَ بنتَ خُويلد كانت تحتَه، وأنَّ ابنتَها فاطمةُ ابنةُ رسولِ الله ﷺ، و لقد علمتَ أن خديجةَ أمُّ أمِّها حبيبةُ بنت أسَدِ بن عبد العُزّى، ولقد علمتَ أنَّ أم رسولِ الله ﷺ آمنةُ بنتُ وَهْب بن عبد مَنافِ ابن زُهْرة، ولقد صحبتُه بأحسن صُحبةٍ، والحمدُ الله، ولقد سمعتُه يقول: "مَن قال عليَّ ما لم أقُلْ، فليَتَبَوّأْ مَقْعدَه من النارِ" (3).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to his father, Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him): "O my father! Narrate to me hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that I may pass them on from you, for all the sons of the Companions narrate hadiths from their fathers." He replied: "O my dear son! Whoever was honoured with the companionship of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I too had companionship like theirs or even better than theirs. You already know that your mother, Asma bint Abi Bakr, was my wife, and that your maternal aunt is Aishah bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her). You also know that my mother was Safiyyah bint Abd al-Muttalib, and that my maternal uncles were Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib, Abu Talib and al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), and that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself is the son of my maternal uncle. You also know that my paternal aunt, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her), was his (peace and blessings be upon him) wife, and that her daughter Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) is the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). You also know that the maternal grandmother of Sayyidah Khadijah was Habibah bint Asad bin Abd al-Uzza, and that the mother of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was Aminah bint Wahb bin Abd Manaf bin Zuhrah. By the grace of Allah, I kept the finest company with him (peace and blessings be upon him); however, I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever attributes to me something that I did not say, let him take his seat in the Fire.'"

(1) تحرَّف في (ز) و (ب) إلى: أبو، والمثبت على الصواب من (ص) و (م) و "تلخيص الذهبي"، لأنَّ عتيقًا يروي هذا الخبر عن أبيه يعقوب: وهو ابن صُدَيق بن موسى بن عبد الله بن الزبير بن العوام.
Note / Clarification: (1) In manuscripts (Z) and (B) this is corrupted into "Abu"; the correct text has been established from (S), (M) and al-Dhahabi's "Talkhis", because 'Atiq narrates this report from his father "Ya'qub", who is "Ibn Sudayq bin Musa bin 'Abdullah bin al-Zubayr bin al-'Awwam".
(2) تحرّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: بن. وإنما يروي هذا الخبرَ يعقوبُ بنُ صُدَيق والدُ عتيقٍ عن ابن ابن عم أبيه الزبير بن خبيب، وليس الزبير بن حبيب أبا يعقوب، فلا شكَّ بأنَّ لفظة "بن" هنا تحريف.
Note / Clarification: (2) In the manuscripts this is corrupted into "bin". But Ya'qub bin Sudayq ('Atiq's father) is narrating this report from the son of his father's paternal cousin, "al-Zubayr bin Khubayb", and al-Zubayr bin Khubayb is not Ya'qub's father; so there is no doubt that the word "bin" here is a corruption.
(3) مرفوعُه صحيح، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لجهالة يعقوب والد عَتيق - وهو ابن صُدَيق بن موسى بن عبد الله بن الزبير بن العوام - فلا يُعرف روى عنه غير ابنه عَتيق.
Grading: (3) Its marfu' part is "sahih", but this chain is "da'if" (weak) because Ya'qub, the father of 'Atiq (Ibn Sudayq bin Musa bin 'Abdullah bin al-Zubayr bin al-'Awwam), is majhul (unknown); no one is known to have narrated from him except his son 'Atiq.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (6982) من طريق أحمد بن الحسن بن خراش، عن عتيق بن يعقوب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (6982) narrated it via Ahmad bin al-Hasan bin Khirash, from 'Atiq bin Ya'qub, with this chain.
وأخرج أحمد 3/ (1413) و (1428)، والبخاري (107)، وأبو داود (3651)، وابن ماجه (36)، والنسائي (5881) من طريق عامر بن عبد الله بن الزبير عن أبيه قال: قلت للزبير ما لي لا أسمعك تحدَّث عن رسول الله ﷺ كما أسمع ابن مسعود وفلانًا وفلانًا؟! قال: أما إني لم أفارقه منذ أسلمتُ، ولكني سمعتُ منه كلمةً يقول: "من كذب عليَّ فليتبوأ مقعده من النار".
Reference / Source: Ahmad 3/ (1413) and (1428), al-Bukhari (107), Abu Dawud (3651), Ibn Majah (36) and al-Nasa'i (5881) narrated via 'Amir bin 'Abdullah bin al-Zubayr, from his father, who said: I said to (my father) al-Zubayr: Why do I not hear you narrating from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as I hear Ibn Mas'ud and so-and-so and so-and-so?! He said: I have not parted from him since I accepted Islam, but I heard a word from him; he used to say: "Whoever lies against me, let him take his seat in the Fire."
