Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5655

Imam al-Sha'bi states that the inheritance of al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that was divided amounted to forty million dirhams.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In manuscripts (S), (M) and (B) this name is corrupted into "Abu al-Hasan", and it also appears so in the margin of manuscript (Z) with a correction mark; but the correct text has been established from the main text of manuscript (Z), and this agrees with all the places where the author (al-Hakim) narrates reports with this same chain. In manuscript (Z) a "dabbah" (mark of doubt) has been placed over it, for which there was no need, since it is correct. This "Abu al-Husayn bin Ya'qub" is "al-Hafiz Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Ya'qub al-Hajjaji al-Naysaburi".

Grading: (2) Its chain is da'if (weak), because of the weakness of Mujalid (bin Sa'id).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: But a shahid (supporting report) for it has been narrated from 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr, as has passed in the takhrij of the preceding report.
Note / Clarification: Al-Sha'bi is "'Amir bin Sharahil" and Sufyan is "Ibn 'Uyaynah".
