It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am pleased for my Ummah with what Ibn Umm Abd (Abdullah bin Mas'ud) is pleased with for them."
This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. However, there is a hidden defect ('illah) in it because of the narration of Sufyan al-Thawri and Isra'il bin Yunus from Mansur.

Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Answering the alleged defect: What the author (al-Hakim) mentioned after authenticating the chain, that it has an "'illah" (defect) (because Sufyan al-Thawri and Isra'il bin Yunus narrated it from Mansur, from al-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Rahman, in "mursal" form), is not a (damaging) defect. The reason is that Mansur (Ibn al-Mu'tamir) narrated widely, so it is not unlikely that he had two shaykhs for this hadith. This is further supported by the fact that Za'idah bin Qudamah, who is a "thiqah hafiz", narrated it from Mansur in both ways (mursal and mawsul). This proves that he had memorised both ways; hence the mursal narration here strengthens the mawsul (connected) narration rather than rendering it defective. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan al-Kubra" (96), and via him Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (33/ 120), by way of Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain. Reference / Source: Ibn 'Asakir (33/ 120) narrated it by way of Ishaq bin Ibrahim bin Jabalah al-Tirmidhi, from Yahya bin Ya'la, (with the preceding chain). Details of the narration: The takhrij of Za'idah bin Qudamah's narration (from Mansur, from al-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Rahman) is coming under the next route. Details of the narration: The "occasion" of this hadith will come later with the author in the hadith of 'Amr bin Hurayth at number (5480).
