Habbah al-Urani relates: I read the letter of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to the people of Kufah, in which was written: "After praise and glorification: indeed you are the chiefs of the Arabs and their head. You are my arrow which I shoot (at the enemies), from whichever direction they come. I have sent Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud to you and have chosen him for you, and in his matter I have preferred you over myself."
