وحدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدَّثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدَّثنا يونس بن محمد وأحمد بن محمد الأزرقي، قالا: حدَّثنا إبراهيم بن سعد، عن محمد بن إسحاق، عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن الحُصَين، عن (1) عوف بن الحارث، عن أم سَلَمة، قالت: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول لأزواجه: "إِنَّ الذي يَحنُو عليكم بَعدي هو الصادقُ البارُّ"، اللهمَّ اسقِ عبدَ الرحمن بنَ عوف من سَلسَبيل الجنة (2). فقد صحَّ الحديث عن عائشة وأم سلمة ﵄.

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say to his wives: "After me, the one who treats you kindly will be the truthful and righteous one." (Then she supplicated:) "O Allah! Give Abd al-Rahman bin Awf to drink from the spring of Salsabil in Paradise."
This hadith is authentically established from both Sayyidah Aishah and Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them both).

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: بن، والتصويب من مصادر التخريج.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this word was distorted into "bin"; it has been corrected with the help of the sources of takhrij.
(2) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد فيه لِين، فإنَّ محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن الحصين - وإن ذكره ابن حبان في "الثقات" - لم يرو عنه غير محمد بن إسحاق ولم يُصرّح بسماعه منه لهذا الخبر.
Grading: (2) This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic due to supporting evidence).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain has "lin" (weakness), because no one other than Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated from Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin al-Husayn (even though Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat"), and Ibn Ishaq did not explicitly state that he heard this report from him.
وأخرجه أحمد 44/ (26559) و (26580) من طريقين عن إبراهيم بن سعد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it (44/ 26559, 26580) through two routes from Ibrahim bin Sa'd, with this chain.
ويشهد له حديثُ عائشة الذي قبله، وحديثُ أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن بن عوف الآتي برقم (5442).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The preceding hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and the upcoming hadith of Abu Salamah bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf at number (5442) support it (as shawahid).
