Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5247

أخبرنا أبو بكر أحمد بن إسحاق، أخبرنا زياد بن الخليل، حدثنا سهل بن بَكّار، حدثنا عبد العزيز بن أبي حازم، عن سُهيل، عن أبيه، عن أبي هُريرة، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "نِعمَ الرجلُ أبو بكر، نِعمَ الرجلُ عمرُ، نِعمَ الرجلُ أبو عُبيدة بن الجرَّاح، نِعمَ الرجلُ أُسَيدُ بن حُضَير، نِعمَ الرجلُ ثابتُ بنُ قَيس، نِعمَ الرجلُ مُعاذُ بن جَبَل، نِعمَ الرجلُ معاذُ بن عَمرو بن الجَمُوح" (1). صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What an excellent man Abu Bakr is! What an excellent man Umar is! What an excellent man Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah is! What an excellent man Usayd bin Hudayr is! What an excellent man Thabit bin Qays is! What an excellent man Mu'adh bin Jabal is! And what an excellent man Mu'adh bin Amr bin al-Jamuh is!"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد قويّ من أجل زياد بن الخليل - وهو التُّستَري - وقد توبع كما تقدَّم برقم (5102). سُهيل: هو ابن أبي صالح ذكوان السمَّان.
Grading: (1) This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is strong because of "Ziyad bin al-Khalil" (who is al-Tustari).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: He has also been corroborated, as has already appeared under number (5102).
Note / Clarification: Suhayl here is "Suhayl bin Abi Salih Dhakwan al-Samman".
وسيأتي ذكر أُسيد بن حُضير مفردًا برقم (5345) من طريق عبد العزيز بن محمد الدراوردي عن سهيل بن أبي صالح.
Details of the narration: Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) will be mentioned on his own under number (5345), through the route of "'Abd al-'Aziz bin Muhammad al-Darawardi", who narrates from "Suhayl bin Abi Salih".
