Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 520

أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا علي بن عبد الصمد عَلَّان، حدثنا أبو الأحوص محمد بن حَيَّان، حدثنا عَثّام بن علي، عن الأعمش، عن حَبِيب بن أبي ثابت، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عباس قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ يُصلِّي ركعتين من الليل، ثم ينصرفُ فيَستاكُ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray two rak'ahs at night, then, having finished, he would use the miswak.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Bukhari and Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (1881)، وابن ماجه (288)، والنسائي (404) و (1345) من طريق عثام بن علي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (3/ 1881), Ibn Majah (288) and al-Nasa'i (404) and (1345) narrated it through the route of 'Aththam bin 'Ali al-Kilabi, with this same chain.
