أخبرنا أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المَحبُوبي بمَرُو، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن هشام بن عُرْوة، عن أبيه، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "سيِّد فِتْيان الجنة أبو سفيان بن الحارث بن عبد المُطّلب". حَلَقه الحلّاق بمِنًى، وفي رأسِه ثُؤلُول فقَطَعَه فمات، فيُرَون أنه شَهيد (1).

Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The chief of the young men of the people of Paradise is Abu Sufyan bin al-Harith bin Abd al-Muttalib." At Mina a barber shaved his head; there was a wart (growth) on his head which got cut, and because of this he died. So people regard him as a martyr.

Grading: (1) Its narrators are thiqah, but it is "mursal", as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar stated in "al-Isabah" [7/179].
وأخرجه ابن سعد في "الطبقات الكبرى" 4/ 49، وابن أبي الدنيا في "الإشراف" (178) من طريقين عن حماد بن سلمة، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd recorded it in "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" [4/49], and Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "al-Ishraf" (178), through two different routes from Hammad bin Salamah, with this same chain.
