Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 502

فحدَّثَناه علي بن حَمْشاذ العَدْل، حدثنا عُبيد بن عبد الواحد، حدثنا ابن أبي مريم، أخبرني يحيى بن أيوب، حدثني خالد بن يزيد، أنَّ يزيد بن محمد القرشي حدثه عن المغيرة بن أبي بُرْدة، عن أبي هريرة قال: أتى نفرٌ إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقالوا: إنا نصيد في البحر ومعنا من الماء [العَذْب، فربَّما تخوَّفْنا العطشَ، فهل يَصلُحُ أن نتوضأَ من البحر المالح؟] (2) فقال: "نعم، توضَّؤُوا منه". وأما ...... (1) البخاريُّ يزيدَ بن محمد القرشي هذا في "التاريخ"، وأنه قد روى عنه الليث بن أبي بردة (2). فمنهم سعيد بن المسيّب:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "We fish at sea and we have fresh water with us, and sometimes we fear going thirsty. Is it proper to perform ablution with the salty sea water?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, perform ablution with it." Imam Bukhari mentioned Yazid bin Muhammad al-Qurashi in his book "al-Tarikh", and al-Layth bin Abi Burdah narrated from him.

(2) ما بين المعقوفين مكانه بياض في النسخ الخطية، واستدركناه من "السنن الكبرى" للبيهقي ¤ ¤ 1/ 4 حيث رواه عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم بإسناده ومتنه.
Note / Clarification: The part between the brackets was blank in the manuscripts; it was completed from al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 1/ 4, where he recorded it from Imam al-Hakim with his chain and text.
(1) بياض في النسخ الخطية. ولعلَّ المصنف يريد هنا أن يقول: وأما يزيد بن محمد فقد ذكر البخاري .. إلخ.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts there is a blank space here; apparently the author (al-Hakim) wants to say here: "As for Yazid bin Muhammad, al-Bukhari mentioned, etc."
(2) هذه العبارة فيها خطأ، ولعلَّ الصواب فيها كما يؤخذ من "التاريخ" للبخاري 8/ 357: وأنه قد روى الليث عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عنه، وروى هو عن المغيرة بن أبي بردة، وذكر له هذا الحديث.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This wording contains an error; the correct wording appears to be what is taken from Imam al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh" 8/ 357: that al-Layth narrated from Yazid bin Abi Habib from him (Yazid bin Muhammad), and that he narrated from al-Mughirah bin Abi Burdah, and he mentioned this hadith for him.
