It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) met Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "How excellent you people would be if you had preceded us in the emigration; so we are better than you." Sayyidah Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "You were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in Madinah); he provided mounts for those of you who were on foot and taught those of you who were ignorant, whereas we emigrated for the sake of our religion (in poverty and loneliness)!" Then she said: "I will not go back until I have presented myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So she went to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I met Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and he said such-and-such." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather you have the reward of two emigrations: your emigration to Abyssinia and your emigration to Madinah."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) The word "fa-qalat" (so she said) had dropped out of our manuscripts, and it is necessary, because what follows it is the statement of Asma' bint 'Umays, not of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). We have restored it from Ibn Shabbah's "Tarikh al-Madinah": 2/ 497, where he narrated this hadith from 'Abdullah bin Raja', and likewise several narrators narrated it from al-Mas'udi.
Note / Clarification: (2) In our manuscripts this word was corrupted into "kunna".
Grading: (3) This hadith is "sahih", and this chain is "qawi" because of Hilal bin al-'Ala' al-Raqqi, who has been corroborated; and 'Abdullah bin Raja' heard from al-Mas'udi ('Abd al-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah) before his memory became confused (ikhtilat). Moreover, al-Mas'udi has also been corroborated. Abu Burdah (in the chain) is Ibn Abi Musa al-Ash'ari. Reference / Source: It is recorded in Musnad Ahmad: 32/ (19524) from Waki' bin al-Jarrah, and (19694) from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman 'Abdullah bin Yazid al-Muqri'; both from al-Mas'udi, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (4230) and (4231), Muslim (2503) and al-Nasa'i (8330) recorded it from Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah > Burayd bin 'Abdullah bin Abi Burdah > Abu Burdah > Abu Musa > Asma' bint 'Umays. It states that it was Asma' who narrated this hadith to Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. Details of the narration: It will come shortly with the author under number (6551) in abridged form (with only the marfu' part at its end), through the route of Yahya bin Burayd bin 'Abdullah bin Abi Burdah > his father > Abu Burdah > Abu Musa > Asma'. Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7194) recorded this same portion of it through the route of Talhah bin Yahya > Abu Burdah > Abu Musa; thus he made it part of the Musnad of Abu Musa.
