Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4984

Muhammad bin Umar narrates from his shaykhs concerning Sa'd bin Mu'adh that he was a Khazraji Ansari, and his kunyah was Abu Amr. On the day of the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq), the banner of the tribe of Aws was with him. He was struck by an arrow in the vein of his arm (al-akhal), which severed it, and blood began to flow. This happened in the fifth year of the Hijrah.
