Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) Its narrators are "la ba'sa bihim", but this narration is "mursal". Although some narrators reported it from Ibn 'Awn ('Abd Allah bin 'Awn bin Artaban) as "mawsul" (connected), with the mention of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, as will come at no. (4941), the mursal narration seems more correct (ashbah), as most narrators reported it from 'Abd Allah bin 'Awn (mursal). And Allah knows best.
Details of the narration: Ibn Sa'd recorded it in his "al-Tabaqat" (3/11) through Ishaq bin Yusuf al-Azraq with this chain, and added "the Day of Uhud" (along with Badr).
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd narrated it in "al-Tabaqat": 3/12, Ibn Abi Shaybah in "al-Musannaf": 12/107 and 14/390, al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir": (2953) and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah": (1815) via Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah. Also, Salih bin Ahmad bin Hanbal narrated it in the "Masa'il" of his father (Imam Ahmad): (866) from Mu'awiyah bin 'Amr, from Abu Ishaq al-Fazari; and al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah": 3/243 via Yunus bin Bukayr. These three narrators (Hammad, Abu Ishaq al-Fazari and Yunus) narrate it from 'Abd Allah bin 'Awn with this chain.
Details of the narration: This narration will come at no. (4941) via Muhammad bin Shadhan al-Jawhari, from Mu'awiyah bin 'Amr, from Abu Ishaq al-Fazari, from Ibn 'Awn, from 'Umayr bin Ishaq, from Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), "mawsul" (with a connected chain).
Details of the narration: From Sayyiduna Jabir bin 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him), earlier at no. (2589), is narrated the saying of Hamzah bin 'Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was struck down on the day of Uhud: "I am the lion of Allah and the lion of His Messenger."
Grading: But its chain is weak.
