Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscripts (Z) and (B) the name is distorted into "al-Hakimi" (with kaf in place of lam), and in (S), (M) and ('A) into "al-Hakami", also with kaf and without the ya'. What we have established is correct, as is clear from the other places where the author narrates from him and from the sources of his biography.
Grading: This hadith is "qawi" (strong), if Allah wills. It is "mursal", as al-Bukhari said in al-Tarikh al-Kabir (4/3).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Although only Sa'id bin Abi Hilal narrates from Sulayman bin Aban (Ibn Abi Hudayr), Sulayman is a Tabi'i and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat". The unnamed man in the chain does no harm, since 'Abd Allah bin Wahb corroborated him. The real issue is the "irsal" (the missing Companion), but since a mursal narration of al-Zuhri also supports it, the report becomes "qawi" through the combination of the two mursal narrations.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari; 'Abdan is 'Abd Allah bin 'Uthman bin Jabalah ('Abdan is his nickname); 'Abd Allah is Ibn al-Mubarak; and 'Amr bin al-Harith is the Egyptian.
Reference / Source: This narration is in 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak's book "al-Jihad" (79).
Reference / Source: Sa'id bin Mansur narrated it in his "Sunan" (2558) via 'Abd Allah bin Wahb.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its supporting report (shahid) is the mursal narration of al-Zuhri in Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (3141), with thiqah narrators.
Important point: In our manuscripts, before the mention of the virtues of 'Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him), there is a statement of the author (Imam al-Hakim), namely: "We return to the place we had reached in the previous session."
Note / Clarification: The author said this because, while dictating, he had made a break within the virtues of Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her): he mentioned part of her virtues before the virtues of As'ad bin Zurarah, then broke off to relate the virtues of As'ad bin Zurarah, 'Ubaydah bin al-Harith, 'Umayr bin Abi Waqqas and Sa'd bin Khaythamah. After that he again mentioned the rest of Khadijah's virtues, and after completing them returned to the virtues of 'Uthman bin Maz'un. Because of this break he wrote the statement mentioned.
Reference / Source: We have kept the virtues of Sayyidah Khadijah together in continuous order, as in the Indian printed edition of "al-Mustadrak", because this is more suitable and fitting.
