Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4842

أخبرنا أحمد بن جعفر القَطيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، حدثنا وكيع، عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، قال: سمعت وَهْبًا أبا جُحيفة يقول: رأيتُ رسول الله ﷺ وكان الحَسنُ بن عليٍّ يُشبهه (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يخرجاه! وله شاهدٌ صحيحٌ:

It is narrated from Wahb Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) resembled him (peace and blessings be upon him).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it! And it has an authentic corroborating report (shahid):

(1) إسناده صحيح. وكيع: هو ابن الجرّاح الرؤاسي.
Grading of the chain: Its chain is "sahih". Waki' is "Ibn al-Jarrah al-Ru'asi".
وأخرجه أحمد 31/ (18745) و (18748)، والبخاري (3543) و (3544)، ومسلم (2343)، والترمذي (2826) و (2827) و (3777)، والنسائي (8106) من طرق عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، عن أبي جحيفة. فاستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Sources: Ahmad (31/ 18745, 18748), al-Bukhari (3543, 3544), Muslim (2343), al-Tirmidhi (2826, 2827, 3777) and al-Nasa'i (8106) narrated it through various routes from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid, from Abu Juhayfah.
Criticism: So al-Hakim's istidrak of it (claiming that it is not in the two Sahihs) is an oversight on his part.
