Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4805

It is narrated from Abu Hanzalah, a man from the people of Makkah, that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) sought the hand of Abu Jahl's daughter. Her family said: We will not marry our daughter to you while the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is with you. When this reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fatimah is only a piece of me; so whoever hurts her has hurt me."
