Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4806

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned (marrying) the daughter of Abu Jahl. When this news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Fatimah is a part of me; what hurts her hurts me too, and what burdens her troubles me too."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) This hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain is "hasan" in "corroborating and supporting reports" because of Musa bin Sahl bin Kathir. Al-Dhahabi said about him in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" [13/ 149]: "He is one of the weak narrators whose condition is tolerable (yuhtamal)." We say: that is, in corroborating and supporting reports, and he has been corroborated.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad bin Hanbal [26/ (16123)], and by al-Tirmidhi (3869) through Ahmad bin Mani'; both of them (Ahmad bin Hanbal and Ahmad bin Mani') narrate it from Isma'il Ibn 'Ulayyah with this same chain.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "hasan sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ayyub narrated it thus: "from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Ibn al-Zubayr", whereas more than one narrator narrated it thus: "from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from al-Miswar bin Makhramah". (Imam al-Tirmidhi is pointing to the hadith of al-Miswar whose sources have already been given under no. (4787).) And it is also possible that Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrated it from both of them (i.e. from both Ibn al-Zubayr and al-Miswar).
