أخبرني أبو النَّضْر محمد بن محمد بن يوسف الفقيه، حدثنا عثمان بن سعيد الدارِمي، حدثنا وَضاح بن يحيى النَّهْشَلي، حدثنا أبو بكر بن عياش، عن الله بن عثمان بن خُثَيم، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس، عن فاطمة، قالت: اجتمعَ مُشرِكُو قُريشٍ في الحِجْر، فقالوا: إذا مَرَّ محمد ضَرَبَه كلُّ رجل منا ضربةً. فسمعته، فدخلت على أبيها، فقالت: يا أبت اجتمع مُشرِكو قريش، فقال: "يا بُنيَّة، اسكني"، ثم خرج فدخل عليهم المسجد، فرفعوا رؤوسهم ثم نكسُوا، فأخذ قَبْضةً من تُرابٍ، فرَمَى به نحوهم، ثم قال: "شَاهَتِ الوُجُوهُ"، فما أصابَ رجلًا منهم إِلَّا قُتِل يوم بدر (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) related: The polytheists of Quraysh gathered in the Hijr (Hatim) and said: When Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passes by here, each man among us will strike him one blow. Sayyidah (Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her) heard this, went to her father and said: O father, the polytheists of Quraysh have gathered. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O my daughter, stay calm." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and came to them in the Sacred Mosque. They raised their heads (on seeing him), then lowered them in shame. He (peace and blessings be upon him) took a handful of dust and, throwing it towards them, said: 'Shahatil-wujuh' (May these faces be disfigured). Every man among them whom that dust struck was killed on the day of Badr.
