حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الربيع بن سليمان المُرادي وبحر بن نصر الخَوْلاني، قالا: حدثنا بِشر بن بكر، حدثنا الأوزاعي، حدثني أبو عمّار، حدثني واثلة بن الأسقع، قال: أتيتُ عليًّا فلم أجِدْه، فقالت لي فاطمة: انطلَقَ إلى رسول الله ﷺ يَدعُوه، فجاء مع رسول الله ﷺ فدخلا ودخلتُ معهما، فدعا رسول الله ﷺ الحسنَ والحسينَ، فأقعد كلَّ واحدٍ منهما على فَخِذِه، وأدنى فاطمةَ من حَجْرِه وزَوجَها، ثم لَفَّ عليهم ثوبًا، وقال: ﴿إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا﴾، ثم قال: "هؤلاء أهلُ بيتي، اللهمَّ أهلي أحقُّ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) but did not find him there. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me that he had gone to call the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and they entered the house, and I went in with them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn and seated each of them on one of his thighs, and he drew Sayyidah Fatimah and her husband (Sayyiduna Ali) close to himself. Then he wrapped a sheet over them and said: "Allah only intends to remove impurity from you, O household of the Prophet, and to purify you thoroughly." [Surah al-Ahzab: 33] Then he said: "These are my Ahl al-Bayt. O Allah! These people of mine are more deserving."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
