Yahya bin Abi Kathir narrated it from Iyad in the same way (like the previous hadith).
Imam al-Hakim says that Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim agreed on recording various hadiths from which it can be inferred that "lams" (touching) means physical contact other than intercourse. Among them are the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, "The zina of the hand is touching"; the hadith of Ibn Abbas, "Perhaps you only touched her"; and the exegetical narration of Ibn Mas'ud concerning the verse "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day". Besides these, there are some sahih hadiths that the two of them (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record, which are as follows.
Grading: It is "sahih li-ghayrihi", but its chain has the same weakness as the previous chain. Reference / Source: This narration is found in "Musnad Ahmad" 17/ (11320) and 18/ (11501), and there too the narrator's name is given as "'Iyad bin Hilal". Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (2666) recorded it through al-Hasan bin 'Ali al-Hulwani, from 'Abd al-Razzaq, with this same chain, and here too his name is given as "'Iyad bin Hilal".
Details of the narration: These words are in Imam Ahmad 14/ (8598) and Ibn Hibban (4422), while Imam Muslim (2657/21) recorded it with the words: "and the zina of the hand is seizing (al-batsh)". Imam al-Bukhari, at (6243) and (6612), did not mention this phrase in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Details of the narration: Imam al-Bukhari alone (6824) recorded it with the words: "Perhaps you kissed, or touched (ghamazta), or looked." Note / Clarification: "Al-ghamz" means touching or pressing with the fingertips. In the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in al-Isma'ili's "Mustakhraj" the words are: "Perhaps you kissed or touched (lamasta)", as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned in "Fath al-Bari".
(2763). Reference / Source: It was recorded by Imam al-Bukhari (526) and Imam Muslim (2763).
