حدَّثناه أبو عبد الله محمد بن أحمد بن موسى القاضي الخازنُ من أصل كتابه، حدثنا إبراهيم بن مالك الزَّعفَراني، حدثنا سهل بن عثمان العَسْكري، حدثنا المسيَّب بن شَريك، حدثنا عمر بن موسى الوَجيهي، عن أبي الزُّبَير، عن جابر، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "ادعُوا لي سيّدَ العرب"، فقالت عائشة: ألستَ سيّدَ العربِ يا رسول الله؟ فقال: "أنا سيّدُ ولدِ آدمَ، وعليٌّ سيّدُ العربِ" (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call the leader of the Arabs to me." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Are you not the leader of the Arabs? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am the leader of the children of Adam, and Ali is the leader of the Arabs."

(2) إسناده تالف، عمر بن موسى الوجيهي اتهمه غير واحدٍ من الأئمة بوضع الحديث والكذب، ومن لم يكذبه قال عنه: متروك الحديث، أو ليس بشيء.
Grading: (2) Its chain is ruinous (talif).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Several imams accused Umar bin Musa al-Wajihi of fabricating hadith (wad') and lying (kadhib). And those who did not call him a liar declared him "matruk al-hadith" or "laysa bi-shay'" (worthless).
وأخرجه ابن الجزري في "مناقب الأسد الغالب" (19) من طريق أبي بكر أحمد بن علي بن خلف الشيرازي، عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn al-Jazari narrated it in "Manaqib al-Asad al-Ghalib" (19) through the route of Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Ali bin Khalaf al-Shirazi, from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this same chain.
