Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name was corrupted into "Qatadah", whereas the correct name is "Kinanah" (the mawla of Safiyyah bint Huyayy), as found in the sources that record the report, and also because Qatadah was too young to have lived in the time of Uthman and the Day of the House.

Grading: (2) This report is sahih, and this chain is hasan because of Kinanah, the mawla of Safiyyah (the Mother of the Believers).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): A group narrated from him, al-Ijli declared him thiqah, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat". Abu Usamah is Hammad bin Usamah, and Zuhayr is Ibn Mu'awiyah.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Umar bin Shabbah (4/ 1275), al-Baghawi (al-Ja'diyyat: 2665), Ibn Asakir (39/ 392) and al-Dhahabi (al-Siyar: 8/ 182) via the route of Ali bin al-Ja'd; by Umar bin Shabbah (4/ 1275) from al-Asma'i; by al-Bukhari in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (7/ 237) from Ahmad bin Abdullah bin Yunus in mu'allaq form; and by Ibn Abi Asim in "al-Ahad wa-l-Mathani" (130) via the route of Khalaf bin Tamim; all four from Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah, in the same way.
Reference / Source: Ishaq bin Rahwayh (2088) and Umar bin Shabbah (4/ 1298) narrated it via the route of Muhammad bin Talhah bin Musarrif, from Kinanah, in these words: "Four men of Quraysh who had been defending Uthman were carried out of the house wounded." Then he mentioned al-Hasan bin Ali, Abdullah bin al-Zubayr, Muhammad bin Hatib and Marwan bin al-Hakam.
Reference / Source: Umar bin Shabbah (3/ 1131, 4/ 1275) and al-Baladhuri (6/ 217) narrated it via the route of Sa'dan bin Bishr, from Abu Muhammad al-Ansari. It is like the wording of Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah from Kinanah, and apparently this Abu Muhammad al-Ansari is Kinanah himself. And Allah knows best. It was also narrated within the long story of the killing of Uthman by Umar bin Shabbah (4/ 1303-1304), al-Baladhuri (6/ 183-187) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 415-419) via the route of Sa'id bin al-Musayyib, and its chain is hasan.
