Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4592

It is narrated from Kathir bin al-Salt that on the day Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, he dozed off a little. When he woke up, he said: "Were I not afraid that people would say that Uthman wished for tribulation, I would tell you something." We said: "May Allah set you right, do tell us; we will not say what people say!" So he said: "I have just seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in my dream, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to me): 'You will surely spend the coming Friday with us.'"
This hadith has a sahih chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is that "Abu Alqamah" (the freed slave of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf) is majhul (unknown). The well-known narration about Uthman's (may Allah be pleased with him) dream is that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying in the dream: "Break your fast with us", as will come under no. (4604).
