مَنْعُ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَاصًّا كَانَ يَقُصُّ بِمَكَّةَ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنٍ ، وَذِكْرُ أَقْوَامٍ تَتَجَارَى بِهِمْ تِلْكَ الْأَهْوَاءُ كَمَا يَتَجَارَى الْكَلْبُ بِصَاحِبِهِ .

فأخبرَناه علي بن عبد الله الحَكِيمي ببغداد، حدثنا العباس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدثنا ثابت بن محمد العابدُ، حدثنا سفيان، عن عبد الرحمن بن زياد، عن عبد الله بن يزيد، عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "ليأتيَنَّ على أُمَّتِي ما أَتى على بني إسرائيل مِثلًا بمِثْل، حَذْوَ النعلِ بالنعل، حتى لو كان فيهم مَن نَكَحَ أمَّه علانيةً، كان في أمَّتي مثلُه. إنَّ بني إسرائيل افتَرَقوا على إحدى وسبعين مِلَّةً، وتفترقُ أمَّتي على ثلاث وسبعين مِلَّةً، كلُّها في النار إلّا مِلَّةً واحدة" فقيل له: ما الواحدة؟ قال: "ما أنا عليه اليومَ وأصحابي" (2). وأما حديث عمرو بن عوف المُزَنيّ:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What came upon the Children of Israel will surely come upon my Ummah, exactly alike, to the extent that if one of them openly married his own mother, there will be someone in my Ummah who does the same. The Children of Israel split into seventy-one (71) sects, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three (73) sects; all of them will be in the Fire except one." It was asked: "Which one is that?" He said: "That which I and my Companions are upon today."

(2) حسن لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف عبد الرحمن بن زياد: وهو ابن أنعُم الإفريقي.
Grading: This hadith is hasan li-ghayrihi (sound due to supporting reports), but this particular chain is weak because of the weakness of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Ziyad bin An'um al-Ifriqi.
سفيان: هو الثوري، وعبد الله بن يزيد: هو أبو عبد الرحمن الحُبُلي.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Sufyan" mentioned in the chain is Sufyan al-Thawri, and "'Abd Allah bin Yazid" is Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli.
وأخرجه الترمذي (2641) من طريق أبي داود الحَفَري، عن سفيان الثوري، بهذا الإسناد. ¤ ¤ ويشهد له ما بعده.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tirmidhi narrated it at (2641) through the route of Abu Dawud al-Hafari, from Sufyan al-Thawri, with this same chain.
