Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this word was corrupted into "al-Marwazi", whereas it is "al-Marrudhi", an attribution to "Marw al-Rudh". For that place the attribution "Marwarrudhi" or, in lightened form, "Marrudhi" is used.
Grading: There is no fault in its narrators (la ba'sa bihim).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): But there is disagreement over it from al-Zuhri. Thus Yunus (Ibn Yazid al-Ayli) narrated it from him via al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from A'ishah, as in the author's (al-Hakim's) narration here, and al-Bukhari mentioned it in his Sahih (4428) as mu'allaq (without a full chain) in a decisive form. Anbasah: he is Ibn Khalid, and Yunus is his paternal uncle.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): And Ma'mar bin Rashid narrated it from al-Zuhri, and there is disagreement over it from him as well:
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Thus once he narrated it via al-Zuhri, from Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah bin Ka'b bin Malik, from his father, from Umm Mubashshir (may Allah be pleased with her). Thus he made it connected, but made it the hadith of Umm Mubashshir. This route will soon come in the author's collection at number (5032).
Reference / Source: And another time (as Abu Dawud narrated in his "Sunan": 4513) he narrated it via al-Zuhri, from Ibn Ka'b bin Malik, from his father.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Now if "Ibn Ka'b" means Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah bin Ka'b, then the report is "mursal" (because he is a Successor); and if it means (the direct son) Abd Allah bin Ka'b bin Malik or his brother Abd al-Rahman (bin Ka'b), then the report is "connected", and it will be part of the Musnad of Ka'b bin Malik. For al-Zuhri narrates from all three: Abd al-Rahman (the grandson), his father Abd Allah (the son), and his uncle Abd al-Rahman (the son).
Reference / Source: And Ma'mar once (in his "al-Jami'": 19815) narrated it via al-Zuhri, from Ibn Ka'b bin Malik, as mursal.
Note / Clarification: And Abu Dawud mentioned that Ma'mar sometimes used to narrate it via al-Zuhri from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as mursal, but we did not find this narration with this chain.
Reference / Source: Musa bin Uqbah narrated it in his "al-Maghazi" (as in al-Bayhaqi's "al-Dala'il" 4/ 264), but he said: from al-Zuhri: Jabir bin Abd Allah said... Thus he made it part of the Musnad of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): But al-Zuhri did not hear from Jabir bin Abd Allah. However, Abd Allah and Abd al-Rahman (the sons of Ka'b bin Malik), and likewise Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah bin Ka'b bin Malik (the grandson), narrated from Jabir bin Abd Allah and heard from him. So it is not unlikely that al-Zuhri took this hadith from Jabir through one of them, and then omitted the name of that narrator for brevity. This is also supported by the narration of al-Waqidi (Ibn Sa'd 2/ 179-180), where he mentioned the story of the poisoned sheep with several chains, one of which is: al-Zuhri, from Abd al-Rahman bin Abd Allah bin Ka'b, from Jabir.
Important point: Al-Zuhri narrated extensively, so it is not unlikely that he heard this hadith from all of them; in that case there would be no disagreement. Especially since al-Waqidi also narrated it in Ibn Sa'd ("al-Tabaqat": 10/ 297) via Malik and Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from Urwah, from A'ishah.
Note / Clarification: And since we also know that the Umm Mubashshir mentioned is the woman who directly asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during his final illness: O Messenger of Allah! What do you suspect (is affecting) you? And he (peace and blessings be upon him) told her. So (it is possible that) A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was present at this incident, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was ill in her house, as is established and well known. And Jabir bin Abd Allah is among those who narrated from Umm Mubashshir, so it is not unlikely that Umm Mubashshir also told him this story. And Allah Most High knows best.
Note / Clarification: "Al-abhar": a vein hidden inside the backbone and connected to the heart; when it is severed, the person dies.
